Anime Zero Abilities and Combat Guide

Anime Zero combat looks flashy, but the fundamentals are readable: M1 pressure, three skills, an ultimate unlocked through evolution, plus dodge and block tools. Mastering those pieces matters more than owning every Mythic on day one.

Use this guide with the dungeon guide for mode context, the Players hub for inputs and loadout habits, and the Arsenal tier list for pull targets.

Combat basics

  • M1 / normal attacks keep damage flowing between skill cooldowns.
  • Skills deliver your kit identity — some favour wide AoE, others burst or mobility.
  • Ultimate usually arrives after you evolve the ability; it is not just a cosmetic glow.
  • Dodge avoids telegraphs.
  • Block / perfect block reduces or negates hits when timed well.

Standing still while animations blossom is how Early Access players eat boss specials. Move with intention between casts.

Anatomy of an ability

Community writeups describe each Arsenal ability as a package of three regular skills, one ultimate, normal attacks, and defensive options. That means two equipped Arsenals give you a flexible toolbox mid-run rather than a single frozen loadout.

Test skills against packs, not only training dummies or empty lobbies. Cooldown length, hitbox size, and movement locks only make sense in live rooms. If a skill pulls you forward into a boss slam, learn that the hard way in Story — not in Infinite.

Swap with T during a dungeon

You can change your equipped ability while inside a dungeon — PC guides call out the T key. Use it to:

  • Swap to AoE for trash rooms
  • Swap to single-target pressure for bosses
  • Compare two kits without ending the run
  • Bail into a safer kit when Defend waves overlap badly

Fill both slots before you enter. Swapping to an empty slot helps no one. Mode habits differ slightly: Story is for learning the swap cadence, Defend rewards AoE-ready pairs, and Infinite rewards sustain planning across many rooms. Details and lobby checklists live on Players.

Evolutions unlock ultimates

Evolution is a progression system, not a pure visual flex. Evolving an ability unlocks or empowers its ultimate, which changes clear speed dramatically. Invest evolution resources into weapons you actually play. The Cataclysm evolution guide shows what a fully realised Zenless kit looks like in motion.

A non-evolved ultra-rare can still lose to a fully evolved Legendary you understand. Prioritise the ultimate on your main slot first, then bring the secondary kit online when materials allow.

Miyabi and ultra-rare fantasy

Miyabi is frequently called out as an ultra-rare, high-spectacle ability. Treat it like other top-end Arsenal chase pieces: exciting if it drops, unnecessary for learning Story. Rarity alone does not teach perfect blocks. Cross-check live rankings on the Arsenal tier list before you empty Lucky Spins chasing spectacle.

Traits amplify the kit

After the kit feels comfortable, spend Trait Rerolls toward Hunter, Bloodlust, or Supernova using the traits tier list. Traits multiply a kit you already understand; they cannot fix panic gameplay. Redeem October code bundles that dump Trait Rerolls — such as BENICE2ME and SERVERLIVE67 when live — before you burn premium currency on rerolls.

Cooldowns, animation locks, and M1 filler

Every kit has dead time. Use M1 chains to keep pressure while skills recharge, and avoid queuing a skill that locks you in place during a boss telegraph. Wide AoE skills shine after you gather packs; single-target burst belongs on elites and bosses. If a skill forces a long cast, step first, then cast — the dungeon guide explains grouping and boss spacing so those casts land safely.

Perfect block practice loop

Perfect blocks reward timing more than rarity. In Story, isolate the boss finale and practise one telegraph at a time: dodge the first pattern, block the second, then mix both. Once the timing feels automatic, bring the same habit into Defend where overlapping adds punish panic. Controls context lives on the Players hub.

Building a two-kit identity

Give each slot a job before you queue. A clean early pair is one wide clearer and one boss burner. Label them mentally so T swaps are decisions, not panic. After a clear, ask which kit spent more time on the field — if the answer is always the same weapon, your secondary is underbuilt or underused. Evolve and enchant the kit that actually sees combat, then revisit the titles page for account-wide multipliers that stack on top of good play.

Practical training plan

  1. Pick your best two Arsenals.
  2. Run Story rooms focusing on one skill’s timing per clear.
  3. Practise dodge and block on the boss wave only.
  4. Introduce T-swaps once single-kit clears feel stable.
  5. Evolve the primary kit and re-learn the ultimate combo.
  6. Layer traits and titles.
  7. Short Defend sessions to stress wave control, then cautious Infinite attempts.
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Anime Zero players.

How many skills does an Anime Zero ability have?

Kits generally include normal attacks, three skills, and an ultimate unlocked through evolution, plus defensive actions.

How do I switch weapons mid-dungeon?

Equip two Arsenals and swap during the run (PC guides reference the T key). Details above and on Players.

Do I need Miyabi to enjoy the game?

No. Ultra-rares are chase pieces. A well-played Legendary with a damage enchant clears Early Access Story content.

What does evolution do?

Evolution progresses an ability and is tied to unlocking or empowering its ultimate — see also Evolve Cataclysm.

Should I spam skills as soon as they come off cooldown?

Not always. Hold AoE for grouped packs and save burst for elites or bosses. Use M1 filler during downtime so you are not locked in animations when a telegraph starts.
