Dungeon Guide

Dungeons are the heart of Anime Zero. Every Roll, Trait Reroll, and crafted accessory exists so you can clear rooms faster and die less. This guide explains the three core modes — Story, Defend / Defense, and Infinite — plus practical boss habits that work whether you play on PC or mobile.

Prep first: redeem codes, skim Getting Started, and equip two Arsenal pieces you can actually swap with T (abilities guide).

Shared dungeon rules

  • Dual-equip before you queue. A single weapon wastes half your kit.
  • Learn enemy wind-ups in Story before blaming your rarity.
  • Swap with T when the secondary Arsenal answers the pack better (AoE vs single-target, gap-close vs ranged).
  • Collect drops between rooms; do not tunnel so hard you skip loot.
  • Leave when the run is doomed — retrying beats a twenty-minute corpse walk.
  • Claim Quests and Milestones after strong sessions so dungeon XP converts into account progress.

Story mode

Story is the onboarding and reliability mode. Use it to:

  1. Test new Arsenal pulls without Infinite pressure.
  2. Practice T swaps until they are muscle memory.
  3. Learn boss telegraphs that later reappear in harder playlists.
  4. Farm materials toward Blast Archer Crown / Wings and skill trees.

Story tips

  • Start every room by identifying melee rushers vs ranged chip damage.
  • Keep one mobility or safety skill available; do not dump both kits’ escapes on trash.
  • If you just rolled a Mythic like Dragon Eclipse or Immortal Sovereign, clear a few Story chapters to feel rotation timing before Defend.
  • Treat Story bosses as rehearsal: watch the second phase instead of panic-mashing.

Defend / Defense mode

Defend stresses wave control and positioning. Packs keep coming; your job is to hold the space without getting cornered.

Defend tips

  • Favor Arsenal pairs with strong AoE on at least one slot.
  • Supernova-style traits help ability uptime across long waves (traits tier list).
  • Bloodlust helps when you inevitably tank a hit while covering the objective.
  • Rotate Enchants toward Power / Hunter / Bloodlust / Supernova lines that match your trait.
  • Save big ultimates (post-Evolution) for dense wave spikes or mini-boss spawns, not the first trash pull.
  • Communicate simple calls if you are in a group: who holds front, who deletes backline.

Defend is where players who never press T fall behind. Swap into the kit that clears the current wave shape, then swap back for boss burn.

Infinite mode

Infinite is the longevity farm. Difficulty and fatigue stack; builds with weak sustain or poor cooldown planning collapse even if early rooms looked free.

Infinite tips

  • Enter only with a stable Mythic / Arcane baseline from the Arsenal tier list.
  • Upgrade weapon skill trees enough that passives matter over long runs.
  • Watch resource pacing — do not empty every cooldown on room one.
  • Use AFK Chamber for passive gains between Infinite pushes, not as a full replacement (Getting Started).
  • If you own Cataclysm, make sure it is evolved before serious Infinite grinding (evolve Cataclysm).

Boss habits that transfer across modes

HabitWhy it helps
Identify the tellMost wipes are greed, not DPS checks
Swap before the phaseT early so the right kit is ready
Burst on windowsHold Evolutions for vulnerable phases
Reposition after AoEStanding still deletes runs more than low rarity
Reclear Story if stuckMechanics practice beats blind Infinite retries

Loot and progression after each run

  1. Deposit or craft with new materials — Crown / Wings remain S-tier craft goals.
  2. Check Quests that completed mid-run.
  3. Spend Coins on trees only if Arsenal rarity is already acceptable.
  4. Track Titles and Achievements that dungeon clears advance (titles).
  5. Recheck Updates if a boss suddenly feels different after a patch.

Suggested progression path

  1. Story until dual-equip combat feels natural.
  2. Defend for wave discipline and trait testing.
  3. Short Infinite attempts, then longer farms.
  4. Reinvest loot into Arsenal pity, Trait Rerolls, and crafts.
  5. Return to Story when a brand-new Zenless or Arcane kit drops so you learn it safely.

Clear rooms with intention. Anime Zero dungeons reward players who treat Story as school, Defend as exam, and Infinite as the marathon — not the other way around.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Anime Zero players.

Which Anime Zero mode should beginners play?

Start in Story to learn mechanics and T swaps, then try Defend, then Infinite. See also Getting Started.

What is the difference between Defend and Infinite?

Defend focuses on holding waves and objectives. Infinite stresses long-run survival and sustained DPS scaling.

Do I need Cataclysm for Defend?

No. Mythic and Arcane A/S kits like Dragon Eclipse, Divine Emperor, or Immortal Sovereign are enough for strong clears.

Why do I keep dying with a good Arsenal?

Usually missed telegraphs or unused secondary skills. Practice T swaps in the abilities guide and slower Story bosses.

Should I AFK instead of running dungeons?

Use AFK Chamber between sessions, but Titles, skill, and top loot still need active Story, Defend, and Infinite clears.
